What do I need to qualify for a self-drive hire?

  • Current drivers license  

  • Two forms of proof of address (no older than 3 months old)  

  • DVLA check code accessible through https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-license this code will be valid for 21 days 

  • 25% booking deposit

How old do I need to be? 

​

  • We do 23-24yrs with no penalty points and 4 years clean driving record 

  • 25 – 70 maximum 6 points  

​

What’s the pick-up and drop off time? 

​​

  • Between 8 am - 6 pm  

​

​

What distance will you deliver the horsebox for self-drive? 

​

  • We are happy to deliver within a 35miles radius, but this can be extended on request and availability.  

​

​

What’s the maximum weight I can load onto the vehicle? 

​

  • Max Loading weight 1180KG 

​

Do you supply a hay net and shavings?  

​

  • We encourage you to supply your own hay and shavings (if desired), but on request, we can help sort something! 

​

 Is there a mileage limit? 

​

  • Yes, charges will be discussed prior to hire

​

​

Can I pick up the night before as I have an early morning? 

​

  • Yes you can for a fee of £20 - this is not a guaranteed service and will depend on bookings but we try hard to accommodate you.

Do you need my horse's passport when travelling? 

​

  • Yes! By law, your horse must travel with their passport. 

​

​

Do I need insurance for your horse transport service? 

​

  • All our vehicles are insured to transport horses throughout the UK, although this does not cover your horse so we recommend that you have your own horse insurance. If your horse requires veterinary attention the horse owner will be liable for any fees. All horses travel at the owner’s risk and Indi Equine Transport cannot take any responsibility for any incidents with any horse/pony.

Do I need to return it cleaned out? 

​

  • We encourage you to clean the box out yourself, we can recommend the service we use ourselves for our vehicle cleaning, otherwise, we can do it ourselves with an additional charge that will be taken off your cash deposit.
